P-pop group SB19 finally released the highly-anticipated dance practice video for their third single “Alab” on Monday, March 16, 2020. A’TINs are waiting for this for 2 months now since the release of Alab‘s official music video last January 9 because it is believed that it was the group’s first-ever dance practice video (“Go Up”) that made them a household name. It was in the said video that they were able to showcase their dancing prowess and gave the Korean counterparts a run for their money.

In K-pop, dance practice videos are usually released within a week after the official music video was launched. The purpose is to keep the momentum of record sales and YouTube views. But norms are meant to be broken this year as what happened to BTS. They released the dance practice video of “Black Swan” three weeks ahead than the release of the official music video.
For the record, SB19‘s first dance practice video (“Go Up”) which was released last September 2, 2019 garnered 3.3 million views to date. The official music video for “Go Up” which was also released 2 months prior garnered 5.9 million views.
The official music video for “Alab” scored 4.4 million views to date. Although the expectations that it should have surpassed the numbers of “Go Up” were not met, SB19 are still making history on social media because of the fans. This week, they maintained their 10th position in the prestigious Billboard Social 50. They’ve been in the chart for 12 weeks now even without a full album.
