Sa darating na Marso 2020, nakatakdang mag-expire ang franchise ng ABS-CBN, ang biggest television network in the Philippines, and President Duterte vowed that he will not allow its renewal.
“I will see to it that you’re out,” Duterte said in an interview earlier this month, holding grudge at Kapamilya Network for supposedly not airing his political ads in 2016.
“I don’t know what’s right and wrong for you, and why it has come to this. But sir, I wish you would consider other artists who are working in this industry, like us, knocking at your heart, hoping you won’t cut off our source of income.”
“Starla” star Joem Bascon is optimistic that it will not happen. “We are very hopeful. Lahat kami unified when it comes to the franchise na ma-extend at ma-sign yung franchise ulit,” he said.
Mark Lapid share the same sentiments. “Ang concern lang naman namin, if it’s going down the line, ang mga mawawalan ng trabaho at isa na po ako roon,” he said.
