ABS-CBN’s primetime teleserye “The General’s Daughter” remains unbeatable in its timeslot, as Angel Locsin’s depiction of a highly trained spy disguising as a military nurse continues to keep viewers glued and earn positive feedback from netizens.
Following the revelation of her true identity, Rhian (Angel) began to hunt down her adoptive father Tiago (Tirso Cruz III) in an episode last Tuesday (May 28) that recorded a national TV rating of 32.4% versus its rival program “Sahaya,” which only got 20.6%, according to data from Kantar Media.
Monday’s (May 27) episode, which featured Angel climbing up a building without a stunt double, also scored 31.4%, a double digit-lead against “Sahaya,” which only registered 19.3%.
Netizens also heaped praises on the episodes – packed with spectacular stunts from Angel – that showed Rhian’s resolve to take revenge against Tiago, after finding out that she is Arabella, the long-lost daughter of Marcial (Albert Martinez) and Corazon (Eula Valdez).
According to Twitter user @jremly15, “In fierceness and sheer badass fighting prowess, Rhian is really a match for the other roles that Angel Locsin immortalised. But in courage with utmost uncertainty, she tops all of them for she has no superpowers whatsoever.”
“The!! Angel!! Locsin!! Climbing her way up that building. Nakaka-proud. She’s proving she will and she can. No injury can stop her. Ibang klase ang dedikasyon mo!” posted @__geeyuh.
User @backpacknirhian wrote, “Thank you @143redangel for giving us a show that leaves us in awe every night. No one could ever do that scene,” while YouTube user Jonaliza Cadiz posted, “Grabe galing ni Angel. Wala pa katapat dito sa Pinas sa galing niya. Angelina Jolie in action… Pang-international talaga siya.”
While Rhian is still at large, Marcial is detained by the military for supposedly conniving with his daughter and preventing the authorities from arresting her.
How will Rhian evade capture, knowing her family’s safety and reputation are on the line?
Watch “The General’s Daughter” weeknights on ABS-CBN and ABS-CBN HD (SkyCable ch 167).
