BTS’ ‘Fake Love’ MV Holds Biggest 24-Hour YouTube Debut of 2018, 3rd All-Time

Contrary to previous reports that BTS’ “Fake Love” scored 41 million YouTube views in its first 24 hours beating Taylor Swift’s record, the video-sharing website made a clarification.

After adjusting its algorithm, YouTube announced that “Fake Love” only amassed 35.9 million views on its first day, surpassing their previous record with “DNA” at 22.3 million views. This means Taylor Swift’s “Look What You Made Me Do” is still at no. 1 with 43.2 million views and Psy’s “Gentleman” remains at no. 2 position with 36 million views.

In an interview with Metro, a YouTube spokesperson made this official:

“According to the (YouTube) spokesperson, BTS’ Fake Love official music video ‘received 35.9million views in its first 24 hours, making it the biggest 24 hour debut of 2018 and the third biggest 24 hour debut of all time.’ Taylor Swift’s Look What You Made Me Do’ is No.1 with 43.2 million views, followed by Psy’s Gentleman, which had 36 million views in the first 24 hours, and then of course BTS’ Fake Love.”

BTS now holds two spots on the top 10 list of 24-hour debuts with “Fake Love” at No. 3 and “DNA” at No. 9.
