ABS-CBN Beats GMA in Mega Manila for March by 2%

ABS-CBN remained as the top TV network in the country in March as it swept the top ten list of most watched programs and recorded an average audience share of 46% (excluding Holy Week), compared to GMA’s 32%, according to data from Kantar Media.

The Kapamilya network kept its lead nationwide, particularly in Metro Manila where it hit an average audience share of 42% versus GMA’s 27%, and in Mega Manila where it got an average audience share of 37%, compared to GMA’s 35%. ABS-CBN also ruled in Total Luzon where it registered 42%, beating GMA’s 35%; in Total Visayas where it scored 56%, compared to GMA’s 25%; and in Total Mindanao where it garnered 54% versus GMA’s 28%.

Multinational audience measurement provider Kantar Media uses a nationwide panel size of 2,610 urban and rural homes that represent 100% of the total Philippine TV viewing population.

“FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano” (41.3%) took a solid hold of its position as the most watched program in the country in March, followed by the reality-talent search “Pilipinas Got Talent” (38.1%). “La Luna Sangre” (37.2%), on the other hand, thrilled viewers up to its gripping finale, while newest fantaserye “Bagani” (33.4%) instantly entertained (or fascinated) viewers in its first month of airing.

The inspiring stories in “MMK” (31%) also touched viewers’ hearts, while “TV Patrol” (30.7%) brought relevant news stories to more Filipinos in March.

Also part of the top ten list are the values-laden series “Wansapanataym” (25.8%), the funnier “Home Sweetie Home” (24.4%) as it welcomed new characters in the series, the current affairs program “Rated K” (23.2%), and the hit primetime series “The Blood Sisters” (21.3%) fronted by Erich Gonzales.

Meanwhile, ABS-CBN also won across all time blocks, particularly in the primetime block (6PM to 12 MN) where it garnered an average audience share of 51%, or 21 points higher than GMA’s 30%. The primetime block is the most important time of the day when most Filipinos watch TV and advertisers put a larger chunk of their investments in to reach more consumers effectively.

The Kapamilya network also reigned supreme in the morning block (6 AM to 12 NN), where it registered 39%, compared to GMA’s 32%; in the noontime block (12 NN to 3 PM), where it hit 45% versus GMA’s 35%; and in Total Mindanao where it recorded 45%, beating GMA’s 36%.

    Fake news.
