Korean Thrillers Available on SKY Critics’ Choice Pay-Per-View

SKYdirect subscribers who are fans of Korean movies have a chance to catch the critically acclaimed and popular Korean erotic psychological thrillers “The Handmaiden” and “The Treacherous,” when they are shown on SKY Critics’ Choice Pay-Per-View until February 16.

“The Handmaiden” from director Park Chan-wook tells the story of Sook-hee, a young woman hired to befriend Hideko, a Japanese heiress, to convince her to give up her inheritance. But Sook-hee ends up falling in love with her target. This story of love and deception premiered at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival where it competed for the Palme d’Or, the festival’s highest award. The movie grossed over $37 million worldwide.

Meanwhile, “The Treacherous” is another period film about the Joseon dynasty during the reign of the mad emperor Yeonsan. The movie shows how one of King Yeonsan’s ministers plotted to strengthen his power over the king by abducting 10,000 women all over Korea to fulfill his majesty’s desires.

He falls in love with a woman who volunteers for the program, but who may have a different reason other than pleasing the king. This was a big hit in Korea and earned its lead actress an award at the 36th Blue Dragon Film Awards, one of the most popular film awards in Korea.

Both movies are R-18 and will air uncut and dubbed in Filipino on Channel 46.

It is available to both prepaid and postpaid subscribers of SKYdirect for P99 with seven-day access.
