Best Singers from Luzon and Mindanao Clash in ‘Tawag ng Tanghalan’ Semifinals

Four contenders from Mindanao and one from Luzon are moving closer to their dream of becoming the next grand champion as they face off in the week-long Quarter 1 semifinals of “Tawag ng Tanghalan” Year 2 in “It’s Showtime” starting Monday (August 7).

Fighting for a spot in the competition is Jovany Satera, a radio DJ from North Cotabato, who has endeared himself to viewers because of his amusing antics and deep voice. From giving love advice to heartbroken listeners, Jovany is ready to entertain more viewers and show his heart through his singing.

Fisherman Alfred Relatado of Davao Occidental may not have finished school, but his plans of getting a degree and pursuing a career in music remain intact. What also keeps him going is his dream of building a home with his wife and future kid.

Aila Santos of Davao City is also fighting for her two kids and life partner. A band vocalist and makeup artist, she wants to win the competition so she can put up her own music studio and grow her online business.

With her father as her vocal trainer growing up, Lalainne Araña of South Cotabato spent her childhood joining singing contests in order to help her family. As she starts work as a saleslady for a videoke microphone, she also gears up to capture a spot in the grand finals.

The first singer to have moved into the semifinals, John Mark Saga of Cavite is a musical director and vocal coach. The lone contender from Luzon also hopes his formal music education will help him beat his rivals in his quest to share his talent with the world.

The week-long semifinals will again require the contenders to take on their audition songs, fight songs, songs for their family, songs originally made popular by their musical influences, songs picked for them by the judges, and their life songs.

Viewers will also weigh in on the results, which will be based on combined scores from the judges and the public votes.

Whose voices will stand out for the judges and for the madlang people?

The semifinals can also be watched live on Showtime.abs-cbn.com/Livestream. Don’t miss the fun and good vibes in “It’s Showtime,” on ABS-CBN and ABS-CBN HD (Sky Cable ch 167). For the program’s past episode, login to iWant TV or on skyondemand.com.ph for Sky subscribers.
