Helen Gamboa Shares Her Cooking Legacy Via New TV Show ‘Helen’s Kitchen’
Aside from being a very good character actress and singer, Helen Gamboa is also well-known for her cooking. His husband–Senator Tito Sotto–is very vocal in telling the viewers of the noontime show “Eat Bulaga” how good his wife cooks. As a matter of fact, Ms. Helen’s Tinapa Rice is the favorite of the whole staff and crew of the noontime show. She always bring meals that she personally cooked to the studio not just for her husband to eat but for other hosts as well. Vic Sotto, Wally Bayola, Joey de Leon, Jose Manalo, Allan K and others, in one way or the other, have testified on how good Ms. Helen’s cooking is.
Tagged by her relatives and friends as the “Queen of the Kitchen,” Ms. Helen reveals that love and passion are two secret ingredients why people rave about her cooking. And starting this July, everyone can now witness how Ms. Helen prepare her sensational meals which got the ‘hats off’ from the whole Dabarkads, Ms. Sharon Cuneta and other celebrities as her new show “Helen’s Kitchen” premieres on Colours on Cignal TV.
During the presscon for “Helen’s Kitchen” last June 20, Ms. Helen was asked which is her favorite among acting, singing and cooking.
“It’s still cooking. Kung tatanungin ninyo bakit cooking kasi siguro, yung part na hindi ninyo alam lahat, I have this passion and I got this passion from my mom when she was still with me kaya bata pa ako noon she cooks a lot for us, for her friends ganyan, everyone knows that she’s really a very good cook so ako parang naengganyo ako sa pagluluto niya sabi ko how does she do it kaya so I hang out in our kitchen pinapanood ko how she cooks. Well, I started out as an actress, as a singer ganyan, itong cooking talagang it really came into my heart noong nag-asawa na ako because I know that the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach so kailangan makita ng husband ko na marunong ako sa pagluluto and other household chores,” she said.
The cooking show is being filmed in the very kitchen that Ms. Helen designed for her own home. In every episode, she will share her cooking prowess with celebrity guests like Gladys Reyes, Albert Martinez, Pauleen Luna-Sotto, Pops Fernandez, Raymart Santiago, Ruby Rodriguez, Carmina Villaroel, Eric Quizon, Donita Rose, Maricel Soriano, among others.
At the end of the show, Ms. Helen prepares her signature “pabaon.” This is a unique Filipino tradition where the host of the party or gathering always gives the guest a specialty dish to bring home. She will show the viewers how she meticulously prepares this from the heating of the stove when she starts cooking to the personalized packaging so that everyone can taste, feel and see the love and passion Ms. Helen puts into each one.
Witness the cooking legacy that everyone’s been talking about when the show premieres on July 1, 8:00pm, on Cignal TV’s Colours channel. “Helen’s Kitchen” will air every Saturday night featuring delicious dishes from the woman who has perfected the art of showing her love through food.
