Sam Mangubat and Carlmalone Montecido Advance to ‘Tawag ng Tanghalan’ Grand Finals

YouTube sensation Sam Mangbubat and student Carlmalone Montecido will continue to fight for their dreams in “It’s Showtime’s” “Tawag ng Tanghalan” after winning the competition’s Quarter Four semi-finals.

Both singers, who are moving on to compete in the highly anticipated grand finals, beat their fellow contenders and garnered the highest average scores cull from the combined judges’ scores and madlang people’s votes – 95.35% for Sam and 78.85% for Carlmalone – in the week-long Quarter Four semi-finals that culminated on Saturday (Feb 25).

Sam and Carlmalone will battle for vocal supremacy against grand finalists from previous quarters, namely Maricel Callo, Mary Gidget Dela Llana, Marielle Montellano, Pauline Agupitan, Eumee Capile, and Noven Belleza.

Meanwhile, Quarter Four semi-finalists Hazelyn Cascano, Froilan Canlas, Julia Faith Joaquin, Joylaine Canonio, and Jex De Castro will continue their journey in the competition, automatically qualifying for next week’s wildcard round as ‘ultimate resbakers.’

Beginning on Monday (Feb 27), they will face off with former semi-finalists Dominador Aviola Jr., Jaime Navarro, and Rachel Gabreza of Quarter 1, Andrey Magada, Chris Mendrez, and Phoebe Salvatierra of Quarter 2, and Antonio Sabalza, Jennie Gabriel, and Lucky Robles of Quarter 3 to prove they deserve a spot in the grand finals.

By the end of the week-long ‘ultimate resbak’ round, only two of them will emerge victorious and be announced as grand finalists.

Whose dreams will be given a second chance? Whose voices will be heard in the grand finals?

Many viewers nationwide tuned in to the Quarter 4 semi-finalists’ week-long vocal battle, as proven by data from Kantar Media. Last Thursday (Feb 23), “It’s Showtime” recorded a national TV rating of 18.7%, higher than “Eat Bulaga’s” 14.1%, proving that more viewers preferred watching the Kapamilya noontime program.
