5 Things Newlyweds Can Learn from James and Nadine in ‘Till I Met You’

Some people think that there is no such thing as forever, but the love story of Iris (Nadine Lustre) and Basti (James Reid) in “Till I Met You” definitely make it easy for #TIMYllenials and JaDine to believe in true love.

They have braved many struggles newlyweds face — from paying the bills to resolving family conflicts — despite being married young, making them a true role model for couples. But what makes them the ultimate #CoupleGoals? Find out here:

1. Talking about your issues

This may be a basic rule in relationships, but it is definitely the hardest one to follow. It may be easier to sulk when in disagreement with your significant other, but it would be best to just settle your issues right away — just like Iris and Basti.

2. Respecting each other’s decisions

Healthy relationships are all about give-and-take, and learning how to compromise is essential when you and your partner have to make important choices. Remember when Basti already wanted to have a baby and Iris was still not ready? He respected her decision. Now, their careers are blossoming and they are able to enjoy each other more.

3. Surprising each other once in a while

No matter how busy you are, you should allot time for your special someone. Having dinner at a fancy restaurant may make your wife or husband feel extra special, but a surprise ‘tapsilog’ date will also do the trick!

4. Getting along with your in-laws

Marrying the love of your life also means having to fit in with his or her family – which proved to be difficult for Basti. He had to live under one roof with his mother-in-law Cass (Carmina Villaroel), who found it hard to let go of his daughter when the married couple decided to move out. But Basti was able to prove himself to Cass and treated her with love and respect, winning her trust. So boys and girls, always remember that you should also make “ligaw” your in-laws!

5. Celebrating success and going through tough times together

Despite being married young, Iris and Basti pursued their dreams. Now, they are making waves as professional event organizers and already achieved milestones in their careers. However, their relationship was put to test when Iris had a miscarriage. Though devastated, Basti stood by his wife’s side and made her feel even more loved, fulfilling his vows of loving her “for better or for worse.”

Witness more of Iris and Bastis’ #CoupleGoals moments in the final week of “Till I Met You,” weeknights on ABS-CBN or on ABS-CBN HD (SkyCable ch 167).
