Lea Salonga and Eric Kunze Topbill the International Version of the Tony Award Winning Musical ‘Fun Home’

The first international version of the most awarded and acclaimed musical of 2015–“Fun Home”–is set to premiere in Manila on November 10, 2016 at the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium, RCBC Plaza, Makati City.

“Fun Home” marks Lea Salonga’s return to musical theater in Manila since she played Grizabella in “Cats” in 2010. Her last stage appearance in Manila was in Atlantis Productions’ critically acclaimed play “God of Carnage” in 2012. She will be playing the role of Helen Bechel, the distant mother of Alison (to be portrayed by Cris Villonco) who is an English teacher and former actress.

Eric Kunze (“Les Miserables,” “Miss Saigon,” “Damn Yankees”) on the other hand, will be playing Bruce Bechdel, Alison’s complex father who is a part-time mortician and avid home restorer.

Cris Villonco will play the central role of Alison, a graphic novelist who attempts to unlock the mysteries surrounding the life of her volatile, brilliant, one-of-a-kind father whose temperament and secrets defined her family and her life.

Laurence Mossman will play four characters: Roy, Mark, Pete, and Bobby Jeremy.

Director Bobby Garcia is thrilled that the international version of “Fun Home” is going to premiere in Manila.

“Dreams do come true, it is an honor to be able to stage ‘Fun Home’ in Manila with this stellar cast. It is a groundbreaking and trailblazing musical that needs to be seen by audiences all over the world,” he said.

Joining Garcia in the creative team are Musical Director Ceejay Javier, Vocal Director ManMan Angsico, Choreographer Cecile Martinez, Light Designer Adam Honore, Set Designer Faust Peneyra, Costume Designer Oz Go, Sound Designer Kevin Heard, Projection Designer GA Fallarme and Hair and Makeup Designer Johann dela Fuente.

Lea Salonga said during the press interview that if “Fun Home” is a movie, it would be rated R-13. Parental supervision is encouraged for children 8 to 13 while 7 and below are not permitted in the theater.
