PH Entry ‘Ang Babaeng Humayo’ Wins the Golden Lion for Best Picture at the 73rd Venice Film Festival

The Philippines has just won the Golden Lion for the first time in the 73 years of the prestigious Venice International Film Festival courtesy of Lav Diaz’ “Ang Babaeng Humayo.”

A Cinema One Originals production, the film stars ABS-CBN’s Chief Content Officer Charo Santos-Concio and the multi-awarded John Lloyd Cruz.

Emma Stone bagged the Best Actress Trophy for her performance in the movie “La La Land.” Oscar Martinez, on the other hand, was named Best Actor for “El Ciudadano Ilustre.”

The Grand Jury Prize went to Tom Ford’s “Nocturnal Animals.”
