Ken Chan Gears Up for First Solo Concert ‘My Destiny’

After his successful portrayal of the groundbreaking role as a transgender woman in “Destiny Rose,” Ken Chan is now gearing up for his first solo concert titled “My Destiny” on August 19, 2016 at Zirkoh Tomas Morato in Quezon City.

Here are the excerpts of our interview with Ken Chan during the pocket presscon for his solo concert “My Destiny”:

On the producers of “My Destiny”:

“Meron kasing production ang pangalan ‘Firestarters,’ sila yung nakasama ko sa Cinemalaya before at kinuha nila akong aktor before, nag-play ako as the young Freddie Webb, ‘yung ‘First Ko Si Third.’ Sila din ‘yung nagproduce, same production din yung nag-produce. So dun ko sila nakilala then nag-collab sila with GMA Network and GMA Artist Center para magbuo ng concert, itong first solo concert ko kasi naisip nila ng GMA Artist Center at Firestarter na alam nila, kilala nila ako personally na hilig ko rin kasi kumanta at iyon ang hindi nakikita ng mga tao. Ang alam lang kasi nila umaarte lang ako which is gusto ko rin naman ang acting pero gusto ko rin ipakita na nakakakanta rin ako kahit papaano.”

On the title of his concert “My Destiny”:

“Kaya ‘My Destiny,’ because of Destiny Rose yan, may konek, pero kabaliktaran naman siya ng Destiny Rose, parang ganun. Diyan nagsimula ang first concert ko kung bakit nagkaroon ng ganung concept or idea.”

On the choice of venue for his concert:

“Unang una, gusto ko munang mag-umpisa kung saan sinasabi nila na hindi ka raw makakarating sa…lahat ng mga artista pinagdadaaanan ang lugar na ito pagdating sa concert kaya gusto ko madaanan ko rin siya. Pangalawa, friend ko si Kuya Allan K. Sobrang close kami nun kaya sobrang bait sa akin nun kaya ang daming mga bonus sa akin sa Zirkoh, tumutulong nga is Kuya Allan sa production, tinutulungan niya ako. Siya nga yung nag-isip nung “My Destiny” ganun saka nung nakita ko yung Zirkoh ang laki ng capacity niya 600 kaya sabi ko dito na muna.”

On the possibility of “Destiny Rose” making a cameo appearance in the concert:

“Secret, hind, um isa yun sa mga surprise pero din ko alam kung paano, basta abangan niyo kung paano siya lalabas or kung lalabas ba talaga siya or what basta isa yun sa mga dapat abangan ng mga interesadong manood/pumunta sa concert.”

On his special guests at the concert:

“Actually marami akong guests dito specially yung mga close friends ko like sina nanay Manilyn Reynes, si Fabio Ide, si Jeric Gonzales, si Kim Rodriguez, si Sheena Halili, marami pang iba si Divine and Tammy Brown, si RJ Agustin, marami pa from GMA Artist Center na mag-geguest sa akin kaya sobrang natutuwa ako kasi maraming friends sa industry na sumusuporta at tumutulong sa akin kaya sobrang blessed at sobrang thankful talaga ako sa kanila.”
