Smart, PLDT Embark on a Digital Pivot, Unveil New Logos #SmarterChange

Change is coming. This phrase was popularized by incoming Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte which pretty summed up his winning platform during the campaign period of Election 2016: to bring change to the country.

On June 13, 2016, the country’s leader in Mobile–Smart Communications–and leading Philippine telecom and digital services provider–PLDT–coincidentally announced that “change” is coming in the next three years.

Dubbed “A New Day,” PLDT and Smart launched their new logos in line with their move to go beyond its traditional businesses and shift focus to data-driven services.

The new logos were revealed via an AVP light show at the RCB Building in Makati City:

PLDT, and its mobile subsidiary Smart, now have a triangle in their logo which represents the company’s three business pillars: exceptional people, meaningful innovations, and valuable customers.

Beginning this month, the company embarked on a three-year digital pivot that aims to transform its networks into the country’s most data capable infrastructure delivering a growing array of compelling digital services.

“Taken together, these three pillars create tremendous energy that will enable our customers to achieve their limitless potential. The triangle’s three sides support each other. Thus, an inherent strength flows harmoniously among the sides to sustain the structure,” PLDT and Smart chairman and chief executive officer Manuel V. Pangilinan said.

“Our company shall lead the digital revolution by embracing the smart life within the organization, pursuing digital innovations and enabling our customers to go digital in their own ways. The biggest beneficiaries will be our valuable customers who will have enriching choices, as the propagation of digital products, services and devices explode,” he added.

The event was hosted by Bianca Valerio and Steven Silva.

Gracing the surprise event were PLDT and Smart’s top executives such as Manny V. Pangilinan, Chairman, President and CEO; Mitch Locsin, Vice President and Head, PLDT-Smart SME Nation; and Eric Alberto, Executive Vice President.
