ABS-CBN and The Filipino Channel (TFC) in Japan will welcome 2016 with a bang as it brings the network’s iconic event “One Kapamilya Go!” (OKGo!) to the Chiba-Ken Bunka Kaikan, Chiba Prefecture for the first time on January 10, Sunday.
ABS-CBN Asia-Pacific Managing Director Ailene Averion is thrilled with the fact that for the network’s first event this year in the region, ABS-CBN and TFC are bringing the milestone event “OKGo!” “As we welcome 2016, the ABS-CBN Regional team together with the TFC team want to extend the New Year celebration to our Kapamilyas in Japan, as a way of thanking them for their unyielding love and support. The best way to reward them is by delivering the stellar line-up, the world-class performances, sense of community and the excitement that OKGo! brings and is known for across the world.”
OKGo! was launched in the U.S. back in 2008 and has since created a history of its own, bringing the biggest names in the Philippine entertainment industry to party with their kababayans in renowned venues in the U.S., Australia, Europe and Japan, in one festive celebration of the greatness of the Filipino talent and community.
In Japan, kababayans first got a taste of the “OKGo!” experience in 2010 when it was staged in Nagoya and Tokyo and for a second time in 2012, again in Tokyo. This year, it’s Filipinos in Chiba and other prefectures in the Kanto region’s chance to experience “OKGo!”
True to its promise of opening the year in Japan with an impact, ABS-CBN Regional and TFC will be bringing some of the biggest Kapamilya stars led by John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo, fresh from the success of “A Second Chance.” The blockbuster team will be joined by hottest Kapamilya stars Maja Salvador, Shaina Magdayao, and Enchong Dee who will showcase their sizzling talents on stage.
Shaina, lead star of “Nathaniel” on TFC.tv, is known for her sharp dancing skills aside from her powerful performances as dramatic actress. Enchong on the other hand, has been thrilling Filipinas all over the world with his chinito looks and exciting moves. Maja, dubbed Dance Princess of the Philippine entertainment industry, has proven through her performances worldwide, that she in fact, dance royalty. She has raised her career a notch higher in 2015 and has captured more audiences as a recording artist as well.
Host and comedian Pooh will also inject comical performances that are expected to make the crowd burst into laughter.
In addition to the stellar line-up of performances, OKGo! Japan will also bring the Bea-John Lloyd starrer “A Second Chance,” the highest grossing Filipino film of all time. Kapamilyas in Japan will get to witness the sequel to the iconic film “One More Chance” which follows the love journey of iconic characters Popoy (John Lloyd) and Basha (Bea) and tackles the hardships of a married life between a millennial couple. After creating a cult following, it has reached another biggest milestone as the highest grossing Filipino movie of all time.
Beyond the performances, Kapamilyas in the Chiba prefecture and the whole of the Kanto region can also enjoy the exhibits from sponsors Philippine Airlines and Asia Yaosho.
As a New Year’s gift, loyal TFC subscribers from Tokyo, Kanagawa, Saitama, and Chiba Prefecture will get complimentary tickets.
