Vice Ganda, Jugs, and Teddy Win ‘Magpasikat’ but Netizens Cry Foul for their ‘Copycat’ Performance
The team of Vice Ganda, Jugs, and Teddy was named ‘Magpasikat’ champion in It’s Showtime Animversary on Saturday, October 24, beating other groups, but it drew flak from netizens afterwards because the concept of their performance was allegedly ripped-off from a music video by American band “OK Go.”
The production number of Vice, Jugs and Teddy called “Kapit Lang” used several optical illusions that earned rave reviews from the judges (“hurados”).
Amy Perez said “ang talino nung concept, ang lupit nung pagkakagawa.”
Marc Logan even described Jugs and Teddy as “a gift to Philippine showbiz” for coming up with such a creative concept.
However, after the announcement on Saturday that the trio won the competition, netizens cried foul and pointed out that the concept used by Vice Ganda, Jugs and Teddy was copied from the music video “Writings on the Wall” by the American band OK Go.
