The Network War intensified on Saturday, September 26, 2015 as GMA-7’s noontime show “Eat Bulaga!” and ABS-CBN’s “It’s Showtime” clashed for TV ratings and number of tweets.
Kantar Media and AGB Nielsen Philippines are yet to release the results of Nationwide and Mega Manila viewership, respectively, but we have an idea on the number of tweets received by the two noontime shows, more or less.
“Eat Bulaga!” claims on its official Facebook page that their official hashtag #AlDubEBforLOVE garnered a record-breaking 23.1 million tweets yesterday. “It’s Showtime,” via Vice Ganda’s Facebook Page claims their official hashtag #ShowtimeKapamilyaDay got 6.7 million robot-free, genuine tweets, on the same period.
“Eat Bulaga!” featured Alden Richards’ emotional “God Gave Me You” performance and his visit to Lola Nidora’s mansion to formally court Yaya Dub, the character being played by Maine Mendoza.
“It’s Showtime,” on the other hand, featured star-studded performances of various Kapamilya stars led by the Kapamilya Network’s hottest love teams of KathNiel (Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla), LizQuen (Enrique Gil and Liza Soberano), and JaDine (James Reid and Nadine Lustre.)
As expected, “Eat Bulaga!” won the Twitter war simply because the “AlDub” phenomenon is getting more intense and the #KalyeSerye scriptwriters are not yet running out of ideas. In fact, they’re just heating up.
