CIGNAL is Now PH’s No. 1 Pay-TV Provider, Sets Record with 1 Million Subscribers

Cignal TV, the Philippines’ No. 1 pay-TV provider and leader in quality programming, announces that it has reached its target of 1 million subscribers earlier than anticipated this year. Established in 2009, Cignal — the pay TV business of MediaQuest, which is owned by Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co.’s (PLDT) Beneficial Trust Fund — has overtaken its competitors’ dominance in the world of pay television.

Cignal Chief Operating Officer Oscar A. Reyes, Jr. said the country’s direct-to-home pay TV provider had 844,000 subscribers at end-2014. Earlier projections target Cignal to reach its 1 millionth subscriber by the end of 2015, which apparently the company has been able to achieve at this point. Majority of Cignal’s subscribers, in fact, have switched from their former pay-TV service providers attracted by the added value that Cignal gives to its subscribers.

Emmanuel C. Lorenzana, President and CEO of Cignal, is pleased with this recent development. “We would like to thank our indefatigable network of Cignal agents throughout the country and our loyal subscribers for making Cignal’s satellite or direct-to-home (DTH) technology become the driving force in the growth of the pay TV market in the country.” Aside from leading the industry in terms of having the largest subscriber base, Cignal is also the pay-TV provider of choice for the country’s top housing developers, hospitality and tourism businesses and institutions. “We are everywhere in the archipelago; providing Filipino families access to the best TV technology and programming available, and at costs that ordinary households can afford,” Mr. Lorenzana stressed.

Cignal prides itself in being the first company to offer a superior 100% digital Pay-TV service in the local market. Cignal’s advanced direct-to-home (DTH) satellite service allows customers to experience digital viewing clarity. In 2014, a study conducted by Nielsen.

Philippines in major cities all over the country showed that Cignal was the preferred pay TV provider (67% of respondents) among local and national cable pay TV providers, when it came to audio and video clarity”
Aside from this, Cignal is also the pioneer in offering built-in HD plans. Its capacity to provide a clear television resolution even in the remotest areas of the Philippine is something that other providers are still trying to achieve. Needless to say, the brand is incomparable when it comes to the aspects of image clarity, consistency of clarity, and the right balance of colors.

Furthermore, Cignal offers a variety of channels that suit the taste and lifestyle of viewers. Disney, CNN, HBO, Cinemax, and NBA are just some of the shows that subscribers can enjoy in SD and HD versions. There are more exciting channels coming up including Bloomberg Television Philippines, the first 24/7 business news channel in the country and Sari-Sari, a Cignal and Viva collaboration, etc., to meet the TV-viewing preferences and interests of Filipinos of all age groups. Cignal’s HD channels’ stunning video quality is complemented with immersive sound experience thru Dolby Digital Surround System Technology. Bringing its subscribers to a whole new level of home entertainment.
