Former ‘It’s Showtime’ Winner, Wows Judges of ‘The X Factor UK’
Before they wowed the Wembley Stadium crowd during their trending audition in the new season of “THE X Factor UK,” girl group 4th Power had impressed viewers with their talent when they competed and won in ABS-CBN’s noontime show “It’s Showtime.”
Then called the Gollayan sisters, 4th Power’s Mylene, Irene, Celina and Almira Cercado emerged as the grand champion of the Bida Kapamilya competition in 2012, where Filipino families clashed in an intense talent showdown. They were mentored by theater actor-singer Robert Sena and took home the P1 million grand prize.
Just like in “It’s Showtime,” 4th Power swept the judges’ votes after performing a powerful rendition of the smash hit song “Bang Bang.” Simon Cowell, Rita Ora, Nick Grimshaw, and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini even gave them a standing ovation together with thousands of screaming live audience.
In the video, Simon was heard saying that the girl group may not be from the UK, but “X Factor UK” welcomes talents from all over the world and that the sisters’ performance is one the best he has ever seen.
4th Power is not the only “Showtime” contestants that have made waves outside the country. Earlier this year, dance group Junior New System made it as one of the finalists in the first-ever “Asia’s Got Talent.”
In 2009, the versatile dancers first showcased their dancing skills on national TV as the JNS Kids via the second season of “Showtime.”
To date, the show continues to serve as a stage for world-class Filipino acts. Last Saturday (Aug 29), “It’s Showtime” launched its new segments “Clash of Celebrities” and “Lip Swak” that only feature Kapamilya stars in intense production numbers, but also give contestants a chance to have their time to shine on stage. The episode proved to be a hit among viewers last weekend as it hit a national TV rating of 15.1% and trended nationwide and worldwide on micro-blogging site Twitter.
The search for the most confident, charming, and talented guys, meanwhile, is still on in “Papa Pogi,” while the hottest twerkers in the country keep heating up afternoon TV in “Twerking Girls.”
