Househusbands Get Spotlight this Father’s Day

Househusbands

In celebration of Father’s Day, broadcast journalist Anthony Taberna pays tribute to two dads with unique stories on how they fulfill their responsibilities to their families tomorrow in “Tapatan ni Tunying,” 4:30PM on ABS-CBN.

Despite social conventions that dictate how the man should be a family’s breadwinner, Joey is proud to be a househusband. Joey and his wife Loida decided to tread an unconventional path for their family when it became harder for the two to raise their six children while both of them are away to work.

The couple decided that it was best for their family if one of them would stay put and raise their children hands-on. Joey did not feel embarrassed to take on this role.

“It’s hard to entrust six kids to other people. They’re little. My job is not stable and I only make a little money from it. Instead of paying a babysitter, I’d rather be the one who takes care of them,” Joey says.

Meanwhile, tricycle driver Marvin has been awarded a couple of times in his honesty when dealing with his passengers for returning items and cash that have been left in his vehicle. Aside from these recognitions, his family has much more to be proud of him. Marvin has taken it upon himself to raise his nephews as his own children when his elder brother died of cancer. He stepped up to the task of taking care of his brother’s sons and has now become a father figure to them.

Know more about them in “Tapatan ni Tunying” tomorrow (June 19), 4:30 PM on ABS-CBN’s Kapamilya Gold. For updates, follow the programs social media accounts www.Twitter.com/TNTunying, www.Instagram.com/TNTunying, and www.facebook.com/TNTunying.
