PH to Compete in World Cosplay Summit 2015 in Japan

Three more days and the annual Hero Face Off will be taking the Mall of Asia Music Hall (Ground Floor, SM Mall of Asia, Seaside Blvd.) by storm! Holding its biggest cosplay battle to date on June 6, the event will be celebrating the distinct Pinoy creativity as embodied in the year’s ultimate cosplay battle in the sixth edition of the biggest cosplay event in the Philippines.

The Hero Face Off competition this year will be divided into three categories: The Kids Squad category, League of Heroes category, and the Face Off category. Also particularly new for this year’s competition is that the Hero Face Off is now open to Filipino characters. Cash prizes, plaques, and gift packs await the winners. What’s more is that, whoever wins in the Face Off category, will be the Philippines’ representatives for the World Cosplay Summit in Nagoya, Japan where they’ll be going head to head with cosplayers from around the globe. For the past years, the country was just an observer nation but this year, we are now qualified to compete.

The finalists for the Ultimate Face Off have also been announced and the country is well-represented from north to south. Hailing from Manila will be Team Kanor, utilizing characters from the sentai series “Ultraman Mebius,” and Team Fink Tilapiaz, who were inspired by the “Kamen Rider Ryuki” series. Bicol-based Team AnimeCore opted to go for a samurai-themed series with “Sengoku Basara” costumes. Team Nasad from Cagayan De Oro went old-school in portraying famous, and horrific characters, from the “Silent Hill” video game. Davao is placing its bet on two teams, Team XO and Team YinYang. XO went for Japanese RPG to secure their place with “Dynasty Warriors”-themed costumes while YinYang went with “Bastard!”

Hero Face Off

The big convention is not only for cosplay enthusiasts as Hero TV is raring to give everyone a treat with their free showing of the latest Dragon Ball Z movie titled “Dragon Ball Z: Battle of the Gods.” And being the gracious hosts that they are, they invited the voice of Son Goku himself, Jeffrey Utanes, along with the voice behind Shiroe from Log Horizon and the original voice of Naruto, none other than Blair Arellano, to share secrets and tips to prospective dubbers. And for all the J-pop and idol group fanatics, Hero TV is proud to showcase the Japanese idol group Starmarie for a fun night of entertainment and meet and greet. Not counting out the OPM scene, Hero TV also invited the Grand winner for X Factor Philippines, Ms. KZ Tandingan, to also sing for the crowd to formally open the program.

Adding spice to an already impressive lineup, one of the popular cosplayers in the land and Hero TV jock, Myrtle Sarosa will be hosting the event along with one of the original host of My Hero Nation, Dino Imperial.
