Cinema One, the home of Filipino movies and producer of exceptional independent films, remains as the number one cable channel in the Philippines for the first quarter of 2015 according to Kantar Media.

Based on Kantar Media’s data that cover urban households, Cinema One opened 2015 strongly with an all-time high audience share of 19.20 percent from January 1 to March 31, 2015 – an almost three-point increase from its 2014 audience share of 16.67 percent. Cinema One was also the number one cable channel last year.

Cinema One has also consistently topped other cable channels in the Philippines since 2008 with an audience share ranging from 15.40 percent to 17.68 percent, surpassing even foreign channels available on cable TV for eight years straight.

“For 20 years, Cinema One is keeping up with the demands of viewers by beefing up programming through adding exclusive content. Aside from airing movies 24/7, Cinema One is producing original shows such as ‘Cinemanews’ anchored by Bianca Gonzalez and ‘Inside the Cinema Circle’ with Boy Abunda. We see a lot of potential in Cinema One to continue to offer a wide variety of excellent and enjoyable content in the years to come,” March Ventosa, ABS-CBN head of Narrowcast and OIC of Access Group said.

Ventosa heads the Creative Programs, Inc (CPI) arm of ABS-CBN that include cable channels Cinema One, Hero, Jeepney TV, Lifestyle Network, and Myx.

“We are grateful that Filipinos continue to watch Cinema One. This great news also means that the team behind Cinema One should keep on producing excellent content and offering the latest lineup of blockbuster movies,” shared Cinema One channel head Ronald Arguelles.

Arguelles also assured that Cinema One will continue supporting Filipino independent films with the annual Cinema One Originals festival that has given birth to critically acclaimed films such as the 2015 phenomenal hit, “That Thing Called Tadhana.”

For 2015, Cinema One is gearing up to air the Cinema One Originals hit, “That Thing Called Tadhana” tagged as the highest grossing local indie film in the country, and the Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo blockbuster helmed film, “Crazy, Beautiful You.”

The premiere cable channel is also enjoying success in digital movie purchases since one of its Cinema One Originals film, “Mater Dolorosa” topbilled by veteran actress Gina Alajar is the top Filipino film on iTunes as one of ABS-CBN’s offerings on the popular music and movie purchasing site.

Aside from movie milestones, Cinema One is extending its presence beyond TV with a series of on-ground events throughout the year. Its kick-off summer event held at Boracay last March 28, “Club C1 Movies by the Beach,” were two affairs rolled into one with an outdoor screening of ‘Tadhana’ with Angelica Panganiban and JM de Guzman in attendance plus a mini beach concert featuring a powerful performance from KZ Tandingan and great beach party beats by DJ Tom Taus.

Next month, Cinema One will have another outdoor screening event on May 1 at Nuvali’s The Fields in Sta. Rosa, Laguna.
