TV5 Launches ‘Battle of Manila’ Interactive Microsite and Special Week-long Event
As part of InterAksyon.com’s widely-acclaimed “Memory Project” – a special umbrella campaign that introduces a series of thematic microsites – the “War and Re-Building” online campaign is ultimately dedicated to most especially help the youth gain newfound information and more appreciation towards this particular key event in our country’s colorful history.
InterAksyon.com recently kicked-off this campaign with the launch of its comprehensive microsite, www.InterAksyon.com/war-and-rebuilding, that gives a historical account of the “Battle of Manila”. Aside from the compelling library of images, stories and information that shed light on this event, the microsite also gives netizens an experiential treatment via the “Visita De Guerra” section, which offers a guided tour of Manila’s landmarks that figured the most during the liberation battle. The section likewise features a downloadable map that showcases even those areas that once stood in glory but could no longer be restored due to the damage caused by the war.
To further supplement this campaign, InterAksyon.com will also be launching free-admission on-ground activities to give the Filipino public a chance to know more about the “Battle of Manila”. This includes the special week-long “War and Re-building” photo exhibit that will run beginning this Sunday, February 22, until March 3 at the Robinson’s Manila Midtown Atrium, featuring actual photos of Manila’s most historical landmarks during the war.
In line with this, InterAksyon.com also recently launched a special “Memorabilia Online Contest” that invites Facebook users to simply post a photo of any personal World War II artifact or gadget, together with a short story while mentioning the hashtag #MemoryProject on their respective Facebook walls until February 20. The lucky netizens who will be chosen among the 15 best photo submissions will receive special souvenirs from InterAksyon.com and Robinson’s Malls. And as an added treat, their photos may also be possibly displayed in the exhibit.
Aside from this, the general public is also invited to the special free screening of the short film “Orders from Tokyo” at 10:00AM onTuesday, February 24, at the Robinson’s Manila Midtown Atrium Cinema 1. The docu-film, as narrated by USMC Captain David B. Griffin, shows actual statistics and footage of the country’s war-torn state during the World War II.
InterAksyon.com’s “War and Re-Building” online campaign is in partnership with Robinson’s Malls, Robinson’s Land Corporation, Robinson’s Movieworld, MetroBank Foundation, National Commission for Culture and Arts (NCCA), and Orange Segment.
