ABS-CBN Starts 2015 at No. 1 Nationwide

ABS-CBN welcomes the year 2015 strongly as it remains the most watched TV network in the country with an average national audience share of 42%, or six points higher compared to GMA's 36%, based on data from Kantar Media for the month of January.

Kantar Media uses a nationwide panel size of 2,609 urban and rural homes that represent 100% of the total Philippine TV viewing population, while the other ratings data supplier AGB Nielsen reportedly has only 1,980 homes based solely in urban areas that represent only 57% of the Philippine TV viewing population.

The Kapamilya network continues its lead in key territories such as Balance Luzon (all areas in Luzon outside Mega Manila) where it got an average total day audience share of 45%, in the Visayas with 56%, and Mindanao with 48%. GMA, on the other hand, garnered 36%, 26%, and 31%, respectively.

ABS-CBN continues its stronghold in the primetime (6PM-12MN) block with an average audience share of 47%, or 14 points higher than GMA (33%). The primetime block is the most important part of the day when most Filipinos watch TV and advertisers put a larger chunk of their investment in to reach more consumers effectively.

The supremacy of Kapamilya network’s Primetime Bida was strengthened by its top-caliber drama series such as “Dream Dad” (25.8%), “Forevermore” (24%), and “Two Wives” (18.9%).

Also reigning in the hearts of TV viewers was ABS-CBN’s special coverage of Pope Francis’ visit last January 15-19. “Thank You sa Malasakit: Pope Francis sa Pilipinas” got an average national TV rating of 13.2%, which is greater than GMA’s “Ang People’s Pope sa Pilipinas: A GMA News Special Coverage” (10.9%).

The Kapamilya network’s live coverage of the 63rd Miss Universe beauty pageant also won in the ratings game with a national TV rating of 16.8%.

Meanwhile, ABS-CBN’s newest feel-good daytime TV series “Oh My G” was off to a good start as the Janella Salvador-starrer scored an average national TV rating of 14.4%, compared to its rival program on GMA “The Ryzza Mae Show” (7.5%).

Also included in the top 10 programs in the country for January are “Maalaala Mo Kaya” (25.5%), “TV Patrol” (23.7%), “Rated K” (22.2%), “Home Sweetie Home” (21.9%), “Wansapanataym” (21.8%), “The Voice of the Philippines” (20.7%), and “Mga Kwento Ni Marc Logan” (18.9%).

    You’re right abscbn is corporation means ang laki at dami ang hawk nilang sister companies pero mostly Hindi kumikita at nalulugi. That’s why dumadami ang it ang Nila because instead of earning money eh they r wasting like studio 23 hero tv etc. While gma is gma only pero kumikita pa rin ng malaki

    A lot of kapuso says advertisers believe in AGB ratings, if that so then WHY do advertisers get kapamilya artists on their product endorsements. Everytime i try to look on GMA once in a while I notice that it is also MOST of the commercials are kapamilya artists. You kapuso cant DENY that dont you?? Try to OBSERVE now, i mean NOW, during commercial break and count how many of them are kapamilya. Come on let us not fool ourselves. KAPAMILYA artists are the bankable stars because most viewers tune in ABSCBN. KUDOS!!!!

If product endorsements go with Kapamilya artists, who are we to complain. They have better judgement perhaps than someone who is just a plain viewer. Just my two cents.

    In an essential need for entertainment, the masses are easily gravitated to Kapamilya station, a network known for luring evils out of its lair. Their charisma is basically absent but hard work and mindless elbowing to where they are right now simulates success, therefore allowing them to be an almost indestructible TV figures.

    They have the phenomenal VICE GANDA, the uncouth and uncultured prick whose ‘kabastusan’ is record-breaking and in a short span of time elevated him to a pedestal made of chalk. 

    ANNE CURTIS, the ‘lasengga’ bully who seems nice and all when she’s sober but takes on a fierce character when inabriated and wage a private war with her own demons is still very visible on TV.

    KRIS AQUINO, who hungers for attention and buys people to drum that up is tolerated because of the power that she can play up on anyone.

    KORINA SANCHEZ, still the biggest JOKE in the broadcast industry, who is also a domestic helper beater is best known for her nasty remarks and distributing cheap and poor-quality slippers to sectors she blandly calls ‘MAHIHIRAP.’

    AI AI DELAS ALAS, heard from the grapevine that she cried foul when Star Cinema blamed her for the measly box office gross of her movie ‘Past Tense’ due to her vomit-inducing lovelife. She knew that the Kapamilya Network loved her. Loved her as a miser loves money, or a dragon loves its gold. That she was once ABS-CBN’s tolerated pet, whose behavior was no longer amusing thus forced her to transfer to TV5 come April 2015.

    TONI GONZAGA, a lot of citizens seem to take notice of how kitsch she has become with her conduct and how unlovable she is. A former sunny ‘dabarkad’ when life wasn’t so ugly, is now one of the most-hated celebrities for being an air-headed, jaw-face entity.

    I cannot digest the reason why we all have to eat their news garbage and spew out more trash for ourselves. Are we all held hostage to these insane characters making millions out of a cretinous curiousity of sorts?
