Nora-Vilma Starrer ‘T-Bird at Ako’ to be Digitally Restored
The version of the restored classic to be exhibited now has the 5.1 stereo sound mix.
“After more than 30 years of a problematic audio mix, ‘Oro, Plata, Mata’ can now be appreciated with its brand new 5.1 stereo mix which was redone in a US facility that specializes in audio. The sound came from surviving prints because the original audio negatives have deteriorated beyond restoration capabilities. The mono track was then digitally separated to come up with the new 5.1 stereo version.” said ABS-CBN Special Projects Head Leo Katigbak.
Admission is at popular price with screenings at 2:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Interested parties may call 926-2722.
UP’s interest in showcasing ‘Oro’ to its students shows that appreciation for classic films continues to grow as ABS-CBN Film Archives locally restores more films every year and makes it available to the general public via different platforms.
To date, ABS-CBN Film Archives has already restored 72 films since it started in 2011, some of which were already screened internationally via film fests, screened locally via red carpet premieres, aired on free-to-air and cable television, viewed via pay-per-view and video-on-demand, distributed on DVD, and downloadable even on iTunes.
When asked what titles are currently being restored and will be released soon, Katigbak said restoration is already in the works for “T-Bird at Ako” starring Vilma Santos and Nora Aunor, “Princess Sarah” and “Nagsimula sa Puso.”
