Spotlight: Edward Benosa – Up and Coming Recording Artist from Star Records
So who is Edward Benosa?
Last Friday night, me and some blogger friends got the chance to meet this up-and-coming singing heartthrob at 8th Note Recording Studio in Quezon City. He gave a sample of some of his songs in his album which Edward himself has composed and written and he also performed a fantastic cover of Hunter Hayes’ “Invisible” and John Mayer’s “Gravity.” Take my word for it: this guy has an amazing voice! It’s a mystery to me why Edward did not make it as finalist in the first season of “The Voice” but maybe it’s not yet his time to shine.
But now is the time. His debut album from Star Records is about to be released and his possible first single “Sa Iyong Paglisan,” which he wrote himself when he was heartbroken, is about to conquer the airwaves.

What is your greatest fear?
Edward: “Ang fear ko ay tumanda ng walang na-achieve at na-contribute sa mundo.”
What are the 3 things you do everyday?
EB: “Hindi pwedeng lumampas ang isang araw na hindi ako makapag-practice ng mga songs ko, i jog with my dog everyday, and I cook.”
What is your best physical feature?
EB: “‘Di ko alam eh…sabi nila yung butt at legs ko daw hehe. Ikaw ano sa tingin mo?”

What is your most embarrassing moment?
EB: “Masyadong marami para ikwento (laughs)
What is your most memorable moment?
EB: “My most memorable moment is when I wrote my first song ‘Paglisan.’ Sobrang sabay sabay nangyayari ang lahat. I was broken-hearted, I was crying, it was raining. My uncle who ‘s really close to me passed away kaya mixed emotions talaga.”
Who is your showbiz crush?
EB: “Anne Curtis.”
What attracts you the most in a girl?
EB: ” I like mestisa, syempre gusto ko sexy, long hair. Gusto ko humble, sensitive enough to care.”
Are you single right now?
EB: “YES” (all capital letters)
Have you been in love?
EB: “Yes, pero it ended not well. Akala ko ‘yun na. But I guess, that’s part of life. Ang mahalaga I experienced it.”
Do you think LOVE is chemical, intellectual, spiritual — or completely undefinable?
EB: “All of the above hahaha pero para sa akin, love brings out the best and worst in you.”
What age do you plan to get married?
EB: “Wala pa sa isip ko yan. Work muna. Dadating na lang ‘yan sa tamang panahon.”
Who are your musical influences?
EB: “Michael Jackson, Michael Bolton, Rod Stewart, Bruno Marshall, Gary Valenciano, John Legend, Eric Bennett, Mariah Carey, Nora Jones.”

EB: “Wag na baka malaman pa nila, Hahaha”
What’s the best compliment you’ve ever received?
EB: “Ang ganda ng ‘Paglisan’ at ‘Why Didn’t You Stay'” (Two of his original compositions)
What’s your personal anthem or theme song?
EB: “‘Gravity’ by John Legend. The message: don’t let negative things affect you. Always be positive kasi everything happens for a reason.”
If you had an extra P100,000 to spend on yourself for one week, what would you do?
EB: “I’ll do things that will make me/my spirit happy. Maybe hybernate so I can reflect on things that happened in my life and plan for the future. Or I’ll spend a week of vacation with my family. Gusto ko masaya Lang.”
What do you value most–free time, recognition, or money?
EB: “All of the above.. Kailangan kasi natin lahat yun eh.”
Who do you consider your HERO and why?
EB: “Yung mga taong naniniwala at tumutulong sa akin ngayon.”
Would you consider yourself an introvert, extrovert, or ambivert?
EB: “Introvert siguro ako. Kasi sabi ‘nung mga tsong na nakakasama ko, akala nila kilala na nila ako pero hindi pa pala. Tahimik kasi ako eh, man of few words ba.”
Would you rather be a lonely genius, or a sociable idiot?
EB: “I’d choose lonely genius. Para sa akin ‘di mo dapat ipagyabang ang meron ka. In short humble lang dapat. Ang mahalaga ay yung happiness at self satisfaction. Kapag masaya ka at satisfied sa buhay mo, mas madami tayo maa-appreciate.”
What was your very first JOB?
EB: “‘Yung nangyayari ngayon na isa na akong singer/songwriter. Ito ang first job ko. Lahat ngayon nangyayari for the first time.”
What’s your recipe for recuperating from extreme heartbreak?
EB: “Umiyak ka lang ng umiyak hanggang maubos ang luha mo.”
Do you believe that everyone deserves redemption + forgiveness?
EB: “Yes mahalaga sa akin ang redemption at forgiveness. Dapat ibigay natin yun sa sarili natin at sa lahat ng taong nakapaligid sa atin.”
Do you have any physical features that you try to cloak or hide? How come?
EB: “Wala naman. What you see is what you get.”
What’s your guiltiest of guilty pleasures?
EB: “Eating, hahaha!”
Have you ever won an award? What was it for?
EB: “Not yet. I hope dadating pa lang, hehe.”
