I can only pick one or two who are good enough for this male pageant’s tilt, and yet these 25 hunks are in for four titles — and that’s really a lot. Imagine how hard it is to pick 12, and that’s even four candidates short as the organizers and judges would pick 14 semi-finalists come Sunday, September 7 at the coronation night to be held at the University of Makati Grand Theater.
This year’s batch of Misters of the Philippines, which is definitely the biggest male pageant in the country today seem fine. Aside from the publicity caused by the entry of a police officer in the competition, it is the biggest in a sense that it holds the franchises of five international male pageants: Mister International Philippines, Mister Global Philippines, Mister Tourism International Philippines, and Mister Model International Philippines.
The organizer, Prime Event Productions Philippines Foundation, Inc. is the same group that organizes the Manhunt International Philippines. Manhunt is not part of this year’s local search as the international contest for last year did not push through. Our very own June Macasaet is still the reigning Manhunt International after he won in 2012.
In this year’s scenario for the search for four Misters, it is hard to choose based on the photos alone, and much harder to choose based on publicity as we know that some guys are really favored.
With the whole of the Philippine National Police backing up a contestant, Niel Perez of Tondo, Manila, is really a big deal. But in fairness to Niel, winning the fitness competition secured him a slot in the semis. For him to win a title this Sunday wouldn’t be a surprise.
After watching the talent competition held at the Primos Bar in Mandaluyong City, I finally able to have my top picks. Not because of the talents but because I saw them all in person. I am giving you below my initial list of possible winners based on personal judgment. Ranking could still change as the competition comes to a close. Yet, these guys really are the strong contenders.
