Julie Anne San Jose talked about expressing her feelings by writing songs for her "Deeper" album during her bonding moments with bloggers last July 25 at Center Stage in Tomas Morato, Quezon City.

Here are the excerpts of the interview with Julie Anne San Jose…

On Her Music Background:

“Actually I only took voice lessons when I was 3 years old sa Center for Pop Music Philippines. During that time nag-rerecital ako tapos pumupunta ako sa iba’t ibang lugar.”

On Joining Various Competitions Before:

“Actually it was my Grandmother’s idea na sumali sa mga competitions like the very first one na umere ako sa TV was in Little Miss Philippines, that was 1998 I think. Kumbaga ever since kasi gusto talaga ni Lola kasi sila mahilig talaga sa mga artista sa Father side ko, gusto nila ako maging celebrity or singer or artista…tapos ayun, eto na ‘yung binigay sa akin ni Lord. Eto na ‘yung destiny na nangyari kasi after kong mag-voice lessons before, tumigil ako kasi I had to start studying.”

On Writing Songs:

“Frustrated composer po kasi ako before. ‘Nung first album ko tinry ko po talagang mag-compose tapos sabi ko parang hindi e, hindi talaga e. Hindi talaga siya mag-work until nag-try ako na nag-try hanggang sa nakuha ko na ‘yung perfect lyrics saka perfect melody and then ‘yun sabi ko ‘Lord, kahit isang kanta lang po please bigyan niyo po ako ng strength, bigyan niyo po ako ng lakas na makapagcompose kahit isang kanta lang and then hanggang sa nagtuloy-tuloy na and then dumami na ‘yung mga nasusulat kong kanta, so ayun po. Masarap sa feeling na mag-compose at magsulat ng kanta.”

On Her First Composition:

“‘Yung first one po is a goodbye song. Actually nagawa ko na ‘yung lyrics e, before when I was younger tapos tinuloy ko na lang siya for the album. The title, ‘When You Said Goodbye.’ Ang idea ko po before nung mag-compose ako parang when you say goodbye parang when you’re leaving someone important in you like a friend so parang bibigyang diin mo lang yung idea na ‘yun and it will come out na ‘yung lyrics na hindi mo inexpect.”

On Being Left Behind by Someone:

“May mga naranasan din po kasi ako na pwede kong i-relate sa song like siguro when you get to be attached with someone tapos parang maiiwan ka, you’re left behind like for no reason. Meron din pong disappointed ka dun sa tao, medyo nawalan ng trust ganun tapos, actually yung latest song ko, ‘yung pinakahuling-huling song ko na kinompose for the album was about myself, being in the industry.”

On People Who Don’t Appreciate Her:

“Iba yung life mo sa public at iba rin yung life mo sa private di ba. That’s how I become tough and strong by feeling on things specially with people. Hindi mo alam kung nandyan ba talaga sila para sa ‘yo or nandyan lang sila para sa ‘yo kasi may gusto sila from you tapos hindi mo alam hinahatak ka pala pababa ganun tapos sinabi ko rin dun sa song para sa mga taong hindi nakaka-appreciate, di ba, na parang tao lang din naman ako nagkakamali din ako, tao lang naman ako na tulad mo, kumbaga wala namang perpektong tao di ba, why judge.”

On Present and Future Projects:

“So far I’m doing Sunday All Stars every Sunday po and then Pepito Manaloto, ayun, guest po ako dun bilang si Nikki and Marian. So far wala pa pong nababanggit sa akin na specific but hopefully po, this year magkakaroon ako ng teleserye.”
