Ella Cruz Portrays Mentally Ill Rape Victim in ‘Ipaglaban Mo’

Teen star Ella Cruz plays a 13-year-old mentally challenged girl named “Coney,” who was raped by her 17-year-old neighbor Edmond portrayed by Ella’s fellow former “Goin’ Bulilit” star John Manalo in “Ipaglaban Mo” this Saturday (June 14).

Coney’s father Rico (Cris Villanueva) immediately filed a rape case against Edmond after her daughter’s traumatic experience. Edmond’s father, Edgar (Eric Fructuoso), on the other hand, would also fight for the rights of his son, whom he believed was innocent.

Edmond’s camp insisted that the court should not believe Coney because she was mentally ill. Would the court take Coney’s side despite her condition?

Also joining the cast in this week’s episode, titled “Lalaban Ang Tatay Para Sa’yo” directed by Eric Quizon, are Matet de Leon, Kyline Alcantara, and Jon Lucas.

Meanwhile, the much-awaited comeback of “Ipaglaban Mo” debuted strong last Saturday (June 7), winning in its timeslot with a national TV rating of 13.9%, or eight points higher than 5.9% of its rival “GMA Tales of Horror,” based on data of Kantar Media.
