Korina Sanchez is Not Suspended According to an ABS-CBN Insider
Yesterday, rumors about Korina Sanchez being suspended by ABS-CBN management for “attacking” Anderson Cooper on her DZMM radio program circulated on various social media sites and blogs.
The speculations were ignited by Korina’s absence on primetime newscast TV Patrol starting Thursday. She was replaced temporarily by Bernadette Sembrano. The veteran journalist was also missing on her DZMM morning radio program “Rated Korina” since last Friday. She was replaced temporarily by Jasmin Romero.
The reason for the alleged suspension? Some netizens believe that it was ignited by Korina’s controversial commentary on her radio program last November 13, rebuking Anderson Cooper’s claim the day before that “there was no government presence on the Yolanda-affected areas.” The “Rated K” host received flak from netizens the same day who found her commentary “rude,” “unethical” and “inappropriate.”
The issue ballooned to global proportions after Korina was featured on CNN’s “The World Lead” over the weekend. Read here: Korina Sanchez Featured on CNN for Attacking Anderson Cooper (Video)
Earlier today, Jojo Gabinete of PEP.ph reported that according to an ABS-CBN insider, Korina was not suspended.
“Pinagbakasyon lamang si Korina at maaaring magtagal ito ng dalawang linggo,” he said.
The “source” claimed that the Corporate Communications Department of ABS-CBN has no plan of releasing an official statement regarding the issue.
