Last Wednesday, Cooper reported, “there’s no evidence of organized relief and rescue operation around Tacloban. I haven’t seen much of relief effort, I haven’t seen a large military presence.”
Korina Sanchez reacted to the foreign reporter’s statement via her morning radio show on DZMM and told Cooper, “Hindi yata niya alam ang sinasabi niya (he doesn’t know what he is talking about).” The same day, she received flak from Netizens for her commentary.
On Friday, CNN featured Sanchez in a report saying that the Filipino journalist attacked Cooper for something he never said and described her commentary as “bizarre” and “inaccurate.” The American news anchor defended his coverage by saying: “obviously, having been on the ground there, we were reporting what we are seeing.”
According to reports, Sanchez is taking a one week leave of absense from the primetime newscast TV Patrol. The are rumors that the ABS-CBN management suspended the veteran journalist for unethical reporting.
