10 Things Why ‘Tune Hotels’ is the Best International Value Hotel Brand Today

International value hotel group "Tune Hotels" is getting raves from various travelers across the region. To discover what the buzz is all about, I stayed for 5 days and 4 nights at their very first branch--Tune Hotel Downtown Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia--and I easily enumerated 10 things why they dubbed this hotel brand the best budget hotel in Asia today.

Tune

Currently, there are 25 Tune Hotels in operation in Asia – 11 in Malaysia, 5 in the Philippines, 4 in Thailand, 4 in Indonesia, and 1 in India. Additionally, there are also 5 Tune Hotels in the United Kingdom which makes a total of 30 branches of this value hotel brand in operation globally.

In the Philippines, the latest branch to rise was Tune Hotel Cagayan de Oro which opened its door last July 17, 2013, in addition to existing hotels in Angeles, Ermita, Makati and Cebu City.

Two more branches are set to open in the Philippines this year: One in Ortigas, Quezon City and one in Davao, making total of 8 Tune Hotels in the country before the year ends.

Yesterday, August 12, the first Tune Hotel in Japan opened in Naha, Okinawa. And come November 1, the first Tune Hotel in Australia is set to open in Melbourne.

So what makes Tune Hotels one of the best budget hotel brands in the region, if not the best? I stayed at Tune Hotel Downtown KL, their very first branch, for 5 days 4 nights to experience first-hand what this value hotel brand has to offer.

I’ve been to different budget hotels in various countries like Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, Macau, Malaysia, Taiwan, Indonesia, and even here in the Philippines and I find 10 things why Tune got the edge. Here’s my enumeration:

10 THINGS WHY ‘TUNE’ IS THE BEST BUDGET HOTEL IN SOUTHEAST ASIA

1. Great Value for Money

Tune-Hotel-Reception

A budget hotel is known primarily for its low room rates. But some budget hotels may offer low tariffs BUT the quality of their services are low as well, sacrificing comfort and leaving customers unsatisfied. With Tune Hotels, you will discover the value from the 5-star sleeping experience that it offers, from the atmosphere to the amenities, you won’t feel it’s budget at all!

The rate in their Downtown Kuala Lumpur branch starts at RM 49.00 per night or only P658.00!

2. Pay-As-You-Use Concept

Amenites

Tune Hotels has successfully pioneered the concept of pay-as-you-use that has become hugely popular among travelers. Under the concept, guests only pay for room rates with the option of adding on other amenities like towels & toiletries, air-conditioning, in-room wifi and satellite TV service. This concept can save you more money by paying only for the things that you need. The concept is also good for the environment.

3. 5 Star Beds

Tune-Hotel-Bed

The signature “5-star beds” called the Tune Beds feature high quality spring mattress beds with pillows, pillowcases, bed sheets and 250-thread count duvets, custom-made for the hotel’s requirements by bedmakers who supply 5-star hotels. Imagine paying for “5-star” comfort at a “1-star” price, this is where great value for your money starts.

4. Powerful Locations

Tune-Hotel-with-Path

All Tune Hotels are strategically located close to major shopping, sightseeing and business destinations with easy access to basic transportation like train, bus, taxi, etc.

The Downtown Kuala Lumpur branch, for example, is walking distance to both the Petronas Towers and the Menora Tower–two of Malaysia’s major tourist destinations. The hotel location has a covered pathwalk connection to the Medan Tuanku Monorail Station and LRT (on the other side) which is very convenient going to KLCC/KLIA (airports) and other tourist sites around the city. Shopping malls are also a stone-throw away from the hotel.

5. Food and Beverage Outlets inside and nearby

Food-and-Dining

Aside from the convenience store (7-11), San Francisco Coffee and Malaysian food outlet at the ground floor of Tune Hotel Downtown Kuala Lumpur, there are also various fast food & restaurants nearby. Quite similar with other branches, food and beverage outlets are always within reach.

6. Hip Design

The hip interiors got my attention easily. The black and red themed walls, ceilings and other details look elegant and modern. Even the room signs, the hotel signs, the sofas, the tables and chairs, are all cohesive to the modern theme.

The Downtown Kuala Lumpur branch looks like it just opened recently. Surprising to know that it was the first ever Tune Hotel branch to open and it has been in operation since 2007.

7. Clean Environment

The hotel provides housekeeping services to ensure the customers have a clean and pleasant stay. All parts of the hotel even the surrounding region outside are clutter and odor-free.

8. Power Showers

Power-Showers

Each spacious rooms feature ensuite private bathrooms with high-pressure, heated power showers. So even though you’re paying minimal room rates, you’re still enjoying premium showers in maximum privacy.

9. WiFi and Internet

Internet

For social media savvy people and for bloggers like me, WiFi/internet connection is a must! If you need WiFi in your room, it’s included as a chargeable add-on. Alternately, you can also access free internet via the PCs and tablets at the lobby.

10. 24-Hour Security

Security

Aside from the CCTV cameras installed in different parts of the hotel, the use of electronic key card access into rooms and in-room safes provide additional security to the customers. No one can access the main lobby without a keycard past midnight. Security personnel and reception staff are on duty 24-hours.

Needless to say, the staff in the reception and housekeeping are approachable and friendly.
