Royal Baby Update: After weeks of anticipation, the world finally witnessed the birth of Kate Middleton and Prince William's baby boy via the live coverage of various news networks around the globe.

Prince William’s wife Kate gave birth to a boy at 4:24 p.m. (1524 GMT) on Monday, July 22. Palace officials said the infant weighed 8 pounds, 6 ounces (3.8 kg).

The royal couple’s first child is now third in line to the British throne with William’s younger brother, Prince Harry, who has now been demoted to fourth in line. The royal baby is destined one day to reign over Great Britain and the 15 other nations, including Australia and Canada, that recognize the British monarch as head of state.
