‘Beyond Politics’ Premieres July 9 on ANC

Veteran political journalist Lynda Jumilla goes beyond the usual analysis of the country’s deep-seated problems by making elected officials accountable in her newest program “Beyond Politics,” which premieres on Tuesday (July 9) on ANC, the country’s largest and most trusted 24/7 news channel.

“In terms of content, it will have the same in-depth and extensive discussion on personalities and issues in the political sphere. At the same time, it will be lighter, more humorous, and very interactive,” Lynda said.

The program will focus not only on governance and history-making developments, but also on the biggest issues and other news-making agenda to analyze the country’s overall political landscape.

For the show’s pilot, Lynda sits down with Vice President Jejomar Binay and his three children who are in politics, Sen. Nancy Binay, Makati Mayor Junjun Binay, and Rep. Abigail Binay.

In the exclusive interview, a first for the four Binays, they defended their track record and said that their performance, more than their name, is what matters.

“I am proud to be a Binay” — this was the bold statement made by Mayor Junjun Binay, a sentiment echoed by his father, Vice President Binay, who said, “In a clean and honest election, so-called dynasties should not be an issue. At the end of the day, kagustuhan ng tao masusunod.”

For the women, Sen. Nancy Binay is gearing up to be part of the opposition, noting their family is also preparing themselves for demolition jobs as the next presidential election nears. For Rep. Abigail Binay, who is on her last term, helping her father in the 2016 elections is imperative.
