9 Senatorial Candidates Face Nation in Final ‘Harapan 2013’

Nine senatorial candidates faced the nation Sunday night (April 28) at the second and final part of the ABS-CBN’s “Harapan 2013: The Senatorial Debate” at La Consolacion College in Manila.

Samson Alcantara, Rep. Sonny Angara, Greco Belgica, Baldomero Falcone, Richard Gordon, Ricardo Penson, Grace Poe-Llamanzares, Christian Seneres, and Bro. Eddie Villanueva traded points on important national concerns and legislative measures. During the “paspasan” rounds, the candidates expressed their different views on the abolition of pork barrel, the reimposition of death penalty, who they will support for the presidency in the 2016 polls, and which superhero they would like to be.

Moderator Ted Failon, meanwhile, mentioned during the debate the senatorial candidates from Team PNoy and the United Nationalist Alliance who did not participate in the debates and cited different reasons for not attending. Those who did not join the two-part debate, the first part of which was held last Sunday (April 21), were Nancy Binay, Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano, Tingting Cojuangco, Rep. Jack Enrile, Sen. Francis Escudero, JV Ejercito Estrada, Sen. Gringo Honasan, Sen. Loren Legarda, Jamby Madrigal, Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV, Cynthia Villar and Miguel Zubiri.
