Pinoy Box Office (PBO) Climbs to No. 3 of the Top 20 Cable Channels in PHL

Survey after survey, PINOY BOX OFFICE (PBO), Viva Communications' premier pay TV channel, has consistently proven why it is dubbed “Paborito ng Bayan.”

PBO

In Kantar Media’s December report of Top 20 cable channels, PBO rose to number 3, besting powerhouses like Cartoon Network, HBO, Star Movies, Disney Channel, Basketball TV, Solar Sports, AXN, and others. PBO is also consistently ranked among the Top 5 in AC Nielsen Media Rankings, both in Mega Manila and National ratings. What makes these even more remarkable is the fact that PBO is not even carried by the dominant cable provider in Mega Manila and other key cities around the Philippines, while almost all of the other channels in the list are.

Ever since its launching in 2003 on Dream Satellite TV, PBO has been on a steady rise to fan favorite in just a few years. It is currently being enjoyed by millions of viewers on over 350 cable systems nationwide, including Cablelink, Destiny, and Telmark in Mega Manila. PBO is also on DTH (direct-to-home) systems PLDT Cignal Satellite TV and Dream.

PBO shows movies 24/7 and occasionally features the latest sold-out concerts of top artists, like pop princess Sarah Geronimo, and sports specials, due to popular demand. It is the only pay TV channel that broadcasts the most loved Viva Films productions, past and present. It also premieres the biggest co-productions of Viva Films and Star Cinema, as well as Viva Films and GMA Films. It has acquired the rights to air blockbuster movies from major local production companies from the 80’s and 90’s, featuring the action stars that viewers miss seeing on the big screen, like Fernando Poe, Jr., Rudy Fernandez, Bong Revilla, Phillip Salvador, and many others. It even exclusively airs top-notch indie productions, like the world-class works of Cannes Best Director Brillante Mendoza. Another fan favorite is PBO’s airing of Tagalog-dubbed Hollywood and global blockbusters, including the movies of Jackie Chan, Jet Li, Gerard Butler, and many more!

Viewers are in for even more treats this February from PBO. On February 16, Sarah Geronimo’s two-night concert “24/SG” will finally be shown on TV for the first time. Also not to be missed is the local pay TV premieres of Tagalog-dubbed movies that had extremely successful theatrical runs in local cinemas, the horror sci-fi flick “Megasnake” and the sci-fi blockbuster “District 9.”

Every Sunday at 9:30pm this February, everyone’s favorite “It” Girl Anne Curtis will be featured on PBO, with the movies “No Other Woman” with Derek Ramsay, “Baler” with Jericho Rosales, “Babe I Love You” with Sam Milby, and “In Your Eyes” with Richard Gutierrez.

Its lineup of upcoming movies are definite must-sees, like “A Secret Affair”, “This Guy’s In Love With You, Mare”, “Of All The Things”, “Rigodon”, “El Presidente”, and “Sisterakas”. The channel continues to grant viewer requests for replays of the recently premiered “Moron 5”, “Manila Kingpin”, “Praybeyt Benjamin”, “Won’t Last A Day Without You”, and other fan favorites.

Don’t be left out. Get PBO now to experience why it is the one and truly “Paborito ng Bayan.” Don’t have PBO? Call your local cable operator and demand for it.
