Jessa Zaragoza Gets Star on PH’s ‘Walk of Fame’

After almost 25 years in showbiz, singer/actress Jessa Zaragoza will finally get her own star in Eastwood City's "Walk of Fame," the country's version of Hollywood's Walk of Fame, this Saturday, December 1, at Eastwood City Gardens, Libis, Quezon City.

According to Master Showman German Moreno, Jessa will be joining the ranks of the country’s illustrious stars whose names have been immortalized in Eastwood City’s “Walk of Fame.” Held annually every 1st day of December, Kuya Germs’ Walk of Fame will be celebrated for the 7th time this year with new batch of inductees, the singer/actress included.

Starmometer and other blogger friends were able to chat with Jessa and her husband Dingdong Avanzado on November 23 at Dayrit’s Burger and Roast Beef House in Tomas Morato where she announced her inclusion as one of this year’s Walk of Fame inductees after her husband made it two years ago.

“Finally, December 1, bibigyan na rin ako ni Kuya Germs,” she said.

Jessa’s dream to enter showbiz started when she was just a little girl. In fact, she joined Eat Bulaga’s Little Miss Philippines in 1986, the year when Aiza Seguerra won.

It opened the door for Jessa to become part of German Moreno‘s youth oriented variety program “That’s Entertainment,” the show that launched the careers of hundreds of stars. For 10 years, the Kapuso program became Jessa’s training ground to harness her singing, dancing and acting skills.

To date, the Phenomenal Diva has released 9 albums, her last was titled “Pag Wala Na Ang Ulan” under GMA Records which was launched last July. Its carrier single, the title track, and follow-up single “Nasaan” both topped the 95.5 Pinoy Hits Countdown chart.

Jessa has also made 13 movies and appeared in numerous TV shows from the country’s 3 leading networks: ABS-CBN, GMA-7 and TV5. This year, she kicked-off her acting stint via the Kapuso fantaserye “Kokak” where she played Sarah Lahbati‘s mom followed by recurring role in the reality sitcom “Pepito Manaloto.” To date, she is currently doing the Bea Binene-Jake Vargas starrer, “Cielo de Angelina,” where she plays the role of a politician for the first time.

Considered as one of Philippine showbiz’ hot mommas, is Jessa open to the idea of posing sexy for the cover of a men’s magazine? Yes, is her answer.

“If the photographer is Jun de Leon or Raymund Isaac, why not? I’d like to work with people I’m comfortable with,” Jessa said.

She was also tapped to be the celebrity endorser of Fortune Life Insurance where she also sings the TV ad theme song “Pangako” composed by Jimmy Antiporda.

The Phenomenal Diva has also staged sold-out shows in New Jersey, Australia, Italy, UK and Indonesia. This November 30, she’s Dubai-bound for another show for Overseas Filipino Workers working in UAE.

These are the reasons why Jessa, together with husband Dingdong Avanzado, and daughter Jayda, decided to return to the country after residing in the US for a few years. In fact, the family is set to move into their Quezon City home before Christmas.

Nothing gives Jessa as much fulfillment playing her role as wife to Dingdong (who recently celebrated his 25th showbiz anniversary), and as a mom to nine-year-old daughter Jayda.

And in 2013, who knows. Perhaps Jayda, who inherited her parents’ singing talent, might also enter showbiz.
