Nora Aunor is Expected to Win 2 Awards at 2012 MMFF

After winning Best Actress in the recently-concluded Star Awards for TV for her performance in the TV5 mini-series "Sa Ngalan ng Ina," Nora Aunor is also expected to bag the Best Actress trophy in this year's Metro Manila Film Festival.

Actually, Nora Aunor has two movies in this year’s MMFF: the Brillante Mendoza-helmed “Thy Womb,” the replacement for “Kwento ni Lola Basyang” which backed out from the race, and the historial drama “El Presidente.”

The Superstar is running for Best Actress in the movie “Thy Womb,” her first project with the country’s only Cannes winner Brillante Mendoza. The film already won three critics awards at the 2012 Venice International Film Festival, one of which is for Aunor’s impressive performance.

On the other hand, Nora is also running for Best Supporting Actress in the epic drama “El Presidente” where she portrays the role of Emilio Aguinaldo‘s second wife. The biopic is an entry by Scenema Concept and topbilled by last year’s “Manila Kingpin” star E.R. Ejercito.

Both “Thy Womb” and “El Presidente” are expected to rake top honors in the 2012 Metro Manila Film Festival this December and the possibility that the Superstar bag both Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress trophies is quite big.
