CineFilipino Top 8 Finalists to be Announced this January

CineFilipino extends deliberation, announces new festival date New independent film competition CineFilipino officially announced today that the dates for the much-anticipated film festival have been moved to June 26 to July 2, 2013.

Launched last August 17, CineFilipino received almost 150 full length scripts for its Feature-Length Filmmakers Section. Because of the high number of submissions, the decision was made to extend the deliberation process to devote sufficient time for each submitted work.

“We were pleasantly surprised by the tremendous support we got from the Filipino film community,” says CineFilipino Festival Director Vincent Nebrida. “Our festival staff and selection committee members are meticulously reviewing all 146 entries. Moving our festival date ensures that there’s enough time for diligent evaluation and review and that nothing is rushed.”

He also added, “What’s even better is that there is now ample time for these projects to be produced in the best possible fashion. It’s great to have enough time for prep work, and of course, even more time for principal photography and the necessary post work.”

According to Nebrida, the Top Eight finalists will be announced on Thursday, January 10, 2013. Each of the Top Eight finalists will be granted PhP 1.5 million to produce their work. On the other hand, students can still submit their short films until March 29, 2013.
