Nora Aunor-Starrer ‘Thy Womb’ Replaces ‘Lola Basyang’ in 2012 MMFF

The internationally-acclaimed film "Thy Womb" by Brillante Mendoza and starring Nora Aunor is now an official entry to the 2012 Metro Manila Film Festival replacing "Mga Kwento ni Lola Basyang."

The MMFF 2012 committe has announced on Friday that “Thy Womb” (Tagalog title “Sinapupunan”) is now one of the 8 official entries in this year’s festival after UNITEL and Studio 5 pulled out “Mga Kwento ni Lola Basyang” because of production time constraints.

Adolf Alix Jr‘s “My Prince Charming” and Skylight Films’ “Tuhog” were also considered as replacement but both films also have time constraint issues that’s why the slot was given to “Thy Womb” which already won several awards abroad.

The film is currently vying in the 2012 Asia Pacific Screen Awards as Nora Aunor was nominated for Best Actress and Brillante Mendoza for Best Director.
