One Minute Movie Review: ‘Pitch Perfect’

"Pitch Perfect" is a highly-entertaining comedy/musical movie featuring an all-girl campus singing group competing against their all-male counterparts in an a-capella competition.

PITCH PERFECT

Main Cast: Anna Camp, Anna Kendrick, Brittany Snow, Rebel Wilson
Director: Jason Moore
Genre: Comedy, Musical
Released by: Robinson’s Cinemas
MTRCB Rating: PG-13

Movie Info: Beca (Anna Kendrick) is that girl who’d rather listen to what’s coming out of her headphones than what’s coming out of you. Arriving at her new college, she finds herself not right for any clique but somehow is muscled into one that she never would have picked on her own: alongside mean girls, sweet girls and weird girls whose only thing in common is how good they sound when they sing together, in the new out-loud comedy Pitch Perfect. When Beca takes this acoustic singing group out of their world of traditional arrangements and perfect harmonies into all-new mash-ups, they fight to climb their way to the top of the cutthroat world of college a cappella. This could wind up either the coolest thing they’ll ever do or the most insane, and it will probably be a little of both. –Universal

The Positive: The movie is totally eargasmic! Definitely one of the most entertaining comedy films this year.

The ensemble jive in harmony and deliver terrific performances. Rebel Wilson stands out from the rest.

The Negative: The logline is quite familiar – underdog students making their way to the national competition. It’s like “Glee,” “Sister Act 2,” and “Bring It On” rolled into one.

Memorable Line: “You’re an Aca-Girl, and I’m an Aca-Boy and we’re going to have Aca-Children. It’s inevitable.”
