GMA-7 Wins Big at the 2012 VACC Awards

GMA Network was the big winner in the Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption (VACC) Awards held last September 22 at Camp Crame in Quezon City.

GMA7 was named Outstanding TV Station, while GMA’s flagship AM station DZBB 594 khz was awarded Outstanding Radio Station by the VACC this year.

Likewise, multi-awarded broadcast journalist and GMA News Pillar Mike Enriquez bested other radio anchors for the Outstanding Radio Host award for his early morning radio program Saksi Sa Dobol B. DZBB’s Carlo Mateo, on the other hand, received the Outstanding Radio Reporter award.

On television, GMA News TV’s noontime newscast Balitanghali was awarded as this year’s Outstanding Television News Program. Its anchors Raffy Tima and Pia Arcangel, likewise, shared the Outstanding Television News Reporter award.

Award-winning News Producer Jiggy Manicad, in turn, scored another victory after winning the Outstanding News Reporter award. Manicad, who anchors 24 Oras Weekend on GMA7 and News TV QRT on GMA News TV, recently made it to the hall of fame of the Comguild Awards after winning Best Male Field Reporter for three consecutive years.

Lastly, GMA News reporter Marisol Abdhuraman was also cited as a special awardee during the event.

Celebrating its 14th anniversary this year, the VACC is an organization committed to alleviating the plight of crime victims.
