Tina Monzon-Palma Monitors Flood Victims Post-Habagat in ‘Krusada’

Award-winning broadcast journalist Tina Monzon-Palma will check on the victims of the widespread flooding brought by the monsoon rains and will look into long-term solutions that will help them get their loves back on track in “Krusada” this Thursday (Sept 6).

As program director of ABS-CBN Foundation’s Sagip Kapamilya, Tina was involved in the relief operations for the flood victims that temporarily served their daily needs.

“Relief goods can only do so much. We have to help the flood victims start anew by monitoring their livelihood and making sure they move to safer homes,” Tina said.

Sagip Kapamilya’s objective is to ensure the victims’ recovery and rehabilitation, access to sources of income, basic social services, and schools for children. Many of the affected residents find government’s relocation efforts unsatisfactory because of the lack of livelihood opportunities at or near the relocation sites.

For her report, Tina visited Pila, Laguna, whose rice fields and fish farms were submerged by the floods, to see if the affected residents have recovered from the tragedy.
