Photos: DZMM’s Relief Efforts for Flood Victims

DZMM came to the rescue of flood victims in Marikina, Rizal, Cavite, and Quezon City that were heavily affected by the flooding that ravaged parts of Luzon in the past weeks.

Thousands of residents in said areas received relief goods, free medical check-up and medicine, and were fed by the feeding program of the DZMM Teaching, Learning and Caring (TLC) classroom and clinic-on-wheels project and its partner groups in the past two weeks.

Over 2,300 residents in Barangay Samala Marquez in Kawit, Cavite were fed, received relief goods, and given bottled water, while 2,000 individuals in Angono, Rizal benefited from DZMM TLC, doctors from Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) and its chairman Ms. Margie Juico, Philippine Dermatological Society, Loyola Group, Sagip Kapamilya and Philippine National Police, which supplied trucks that transported first aid kits, relief goods, bread, and medicine to heavily flooded zones.

Meanwhile, 2,000 individuals in Barangay Sta. Lucia, Quezon City were given rice, noodles, coffee, canned goods, medicine and clothes led by ABS-CBN Manila Radio Division (MRD) head Peter Musngi, DZMM station manager Marah Capuyan, anchors Ahwel Paz and Jobert Sucaldito, and the station’s employees.

Kids in Barangay Nangka, Marikina were treated with storytelling sessions led by DZMM anchors Richard Enriquez (aka DJ Richard Steele), Dra. Bles Salvador, and MRD special projects head May Valle-Ceniza. Over 3,000 residents in the area were granted free derma, medical, and optical check-up, clothes, relief goods from Sagip Kapamilya, eyeglasses from Ideal Vision, and bread.

DZMM TLC is one of the advocacy projects of DZMM, the leading AM radio station in Mega Manila and cable news channel in the country. Its maiden voyage in 2010 gave free medical services and held feeding programs and teaching sessions in areas gravely devastated by typhoon Ondoy. The innovative project also won awards at the 2012 Anvil Awards and 2011 Philippine Quill Awards, which recognize outstanding communication and public relations programs.
