Preparations of Team Philippines for the London Olympics Bared

The country’s slim, eleven-member delegation to the 2012 London Olympics is set to compete against the world’s best athletes in a bid to end the Philippines’ medal drought.

Tomorrow (July 24) in “Patrol ng Pilipino,” ABS-CBN reporter Gretchen Malalad will report on the heartwarming stories behind the Olympians’ preparations and sacrifices to bring honor to the country. Will one of them finally bag the first gold medal for the Philippines?

For this year’s Olympics, the country has sent its smallest delegation since 1932 with only eleven but highly competitive athletes. Amidst inadequate funding for athletes and lack of decent facilities, how have the eleven Filipino Olympians kept their focus on training to represent the country?

Meanwhile, Maan Macapagal will delve into the yellow plane policy recently implemented by the Metro Manila Development Authority that limits buses to two lanes nearest the sidewalk and bans them from using flyovers and tunnels along EDSA.

Some bus drivers condemn the memorandum for allegedly prioritizing private vehicles, but will it effectively reduce traffic glitches in the metro? Or do we need to impose stricter rules to the public and motorists?

Know the stories behind the news tomorrow (July 24) in “Patrol ng Pilipino” after “Bandila” on ABS-CBN or watch it earlier on DZMM TeleRadyo (SkyCable Channel 26), 9:15 p.m.
