Protégé Grand Winner Krizza Neri Wants to Focus on Her Singing Career

Just a year ago, Krizza Neri was only an amateur singer from Cagayan de Oro who dreamt of making it into the mainstream music industry.

Today, not only is she several millions richer — thanks to her winning the talent search on GMA-7, Protege: The Battle for the Big Break — she is also a certified recording artist with the launching of her first album yesterday, June 19.

Krizza’s self-titled album was produced by her mentor in Protege, singer and songwriter Aiza Seguerra, under the latter’s Blackbird recording label. It has a total of ten tracks with two OPM revivals and the carrier single, “Ba’t ‘di Ko Ba Nasabi?,” which is the theme song of the GMA afternoon drama “The Good Daughter.” The other OPM revival is “Narda,” a song popularized by Kamikaze.

The original cuts are “Look My Way”, “No More You and Me”, “Dahil sa Iyo”, “French Fries and Coke”, “Don’t Be Too Much”, “Kung Malalaman Mo”, “Could Have Been” and “Bakit Ka Lumayo?”

In an interview with the entertainment press during the launch of her album, Krizza said that among the songs in the album, her favorite is “Dahil sa Iyo” because it tells about gratitude for someone who has made an impact in one’s life.

Picking up from where Krizza had left, the members of the press asked her if she referred to Aiza when she said “someone.”

She immediately clarified that that someone could be anyone who has made a big contribution to one’s life, although she admits that in her case, one of the people whom she really feels indebted to is Aiza.

In the album, Krizza and Aiza did a duet/crossover rendition of timeless classics “If I Could” and “Wind Beneath My Wings,” which they also performed live during the album launch.

Apart from Aiza, with whom else does Krizza dream of having a duet?

“Ms. Leah Salonga, Ogie Alcasid and Gloc-9,” she answered.

Asked if she also plans to try a hand on acting, she said that she is willing to grab any opportunity that comes her way, although at the moment, she wants to focus on her singing career.

Krizza is a mainstay performer in GMA’s Sunday afternoon musical variety show Party Pilipinas. Her career is being managed by the GMA Artist Center.

Her album’s release

Krizza’s album will be available in record stores nationwide beginning June 28, which is also her birthday — her first as a showbiz personality.

The album is released by Universal Records.

Nothing against GMA-7 but i think they should stop producing talent search programs kung di rin lang naman nila sinusugalan like Pinoy Idol and from the start palang (Pinoy Pop Superstar) wala man lang nakarating sa “super stardom level”  Yung Starstruck lang yung medyo may na-produce na sumikat…

  5. One year and still not in mainstream … bakit si Aizza ang producer at hindi ang GMA?
