Iron Man 3 is the sequel to Iron Man 2 with Robert Downey Jr. reprising his role as Iron Man and his alter ego, Tony Stark.

Iron Man 3 began filming in Wilmington, North Carolina on May 23, 2012 and will commence in China in the whole summer, and later in Miami, Florida. It’s another co-production of Marvel and Walt Disney Studios.

This is actually the fourth to star Downey Jr. as Iron Man, following the highly-successful “The Avengers” which already earned a whopping $1.3 billion since its May 4 release.

The photo above, the official set photo for Iron Man 3, was tweeted by Walt Disney Studios on June 4. It features several of Tony Stark’s powerful Iron Man suits displayed in his superhero “closet.”

Last week, the photo of new villain Lt. Col. Eric Savin, aka The Iron Patriot, in his red, white and blue iron suit were first to surface the net. The Iron Patriot is being portrayed by James Badge Dale.

Directed by Shane Black, “Iron Man 3” is scheduled for release on May 3, 2013.
