Richard Dawson, the British actor known for being the host of the TV game show “Family Feud,” passed away on Saturday night from complications related to esophageal cancer at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, his son Gary said. He was 79.

Richard’s son, Gary Dawson, confirmed the news on Facebook.

“It is with a very heavy heart that I inform you that my father passed away this evening from complications due to esophageal cancer,” he wrote Sunday. “He was surrounded by his family,” he posted.
