"The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" is a gripping thriller from beginning to end.

Gist: A disgraced journalist teams up with a brilliant but damaged hacker to solve a disappearance that took place decades ago. Their investigation reveals the ugly past of a family, and an even uglier present.

The Positive: After last year’s “The Social Network,” Fincher scores another victory this year with his edgy remake of the 2009 Swedish film of the same name. The movie is captivating from beginning to end with strong and sharp performance from its lead actress, Rooney Mara.

The Negative: Fincher’s adaptation is too faithful to the novel and original film that he wasn’t able to put his own flavor into it.

Quality:
