‘Words with Friends’ Addiction Gets Alec Baldwin Booted from Plane

Words With Friends, the Scrabble-like game for mobile devices, gets actor Alec Baldwin booted from an American Airlines flight from Los Angeles to New York on Tuesday.

According to reports, Alec refused to turn off his phone on Tuesday because he’s in the middle of playing “Word with Friends” that’s why he was booted out from the American Airlines flight and had to switch to a different flight.

Here is Alec’s tweet on Tuesday regarding the incident:

“Flight attendant on American reamed me out 4 playing WORDS W FRIENDS while we sat at the gate, not moving. #nowonderamericaairisbankrupt,”

Meanwhile, the manufacturers of “Word With Friends” has released a photo to TMZ in support of their celebrity fan. The photo spells out the phrase “Let Alec Play.”

The score on the game reads: A Baldwin 1, American Air 0.

Words With Friends was released in 2009 by Newtoy, a scrabble-like game, which can be played on the iPhone, iPad, Android and even on Facebook. It consists of multiple players taking turns to build words on a crossword-style board. Up to 20 games can be played simultaneously.

Another celebrity who boosted the popularity of “Words with Friends” is singer John Mayer who tweeted in 2009 that the said mobile game is the “new Twitter.”

In November this year, the game apparently had 4.4 million daily active users which could double by the end of the year because of the Alec Baldwin incident.
